The Obama Administration
Chance for a Fresh Start with the Muslim World? by Maleeha Lodhi

Dr. Maleeha Lodhi has represented Pakistan as Ambassador in the United States and Britain. She is the recipient of the President’s award of Hilal-e-Imtiaz for Public Service in Pakistan. Lodhi has also received an Honorary Fellowship from the London School of Economics in 2004 and an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from London’s Metropolitan University in 2005. She served as a member of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Disarmament Affairs from 2001 to 2005. In 1994, Lodhi was selected by Time magazine as one of a hundred people in the world – the only one from Pakistan – who will help to shape the 21st century. Lodhi has been the editor of Pakistan’s leading English daily, The News and among the country’s top political commentators.

These changes will enable the Muslim world to reform itself address the various deficits- in development and freedom- that continue to hold back progress for a quarter of the world’s people.
