The Moral Dimension of Intervention

Pope John Paul II's doctrinal statements on humanitarian intervention are brought forward and analyzed. The Pope has established an ethical imperative for intervening in other country's affairs in extreme crises of human rights. This duty stems from the Church's values of charity and worldwide solidarity. In the future, grave humanitarian problems will be global and will supersede state interests.
